Welcome to the Leanna Hicks Public Library of Inkster Website

2020 began with a scheduled Grand Opening of our new Leanna Hicks Public Library building, located at 2500 Hamlin, Inkster. However, COVID-19 had other plans. Through the Executive Order shut down the new building waited patiently to one day welcome patrons. Now that the EO’s have lifted some, the staff are working each day to provide safe and effective services to the city of Inkster.

One of the first round libraries, the Leanna Hicks Public Library of Inkster was dedicated September24, 1960 by New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller (future 41st Vice-President of the United States). Located on a hill overlooking a forest and river, its floor-to-ceiling glass walls are just one of the reasons why architect Kael Nelson considered this beautiful building his greatest work.

The Leanna Hicks Public Library of Inkster became a City of Inkster Public Library on July 1, 2010. Leanna Hicks Public Library of Inkster is a member of The Library Network.
